On
the 1st of May 2005 a new building standards system
came into operation in Scotland.
All building warrant applications from this date
will be processed under the Building (Scotland) Act
2003.
The Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) is
an executive agency of the Scottish Government to
undertake the national functions related to the building
standards system. Further information can be found
at
There are two stages in obtaining building standards
approval:
Stage 1:
The Building Control department will approve the plans,
calculations and specifications submitted to them
making sure that they comply with the regulations.
Changes will have to made until they are completely
satisfied with the submission.
Stage 2:
The Building Control department will inspect the works
at various stages of the construction and issue a
Compliance Certificate upon completion.
We can prepare all necessary drawings, supporting
calculations carried out by chartered engineers and
specifications to ensure the necessary consents are
granted. The general design process is as follows:
-
Initial visit and dimensional survey.
-
Production of existing and proposed
plans.
-
Drawings posted to you for your
comments.
-
Drawings sent back to us with your
comments
-
Plans revised if necessary.
-
Issue final drawings and plans.
-
Submit application forms and drawings
